iii. The Shunammite woman’s struggle

This brings us back to this Shunammite woman. Why was she great? She had a husband who refused to take the lead. We’ll see later that he either had no clue that a prophet of God was near, or he didn’t care. And, a comment to his wife shows he either didn’t worship when she did, or he did but didn’t trust God for anything else.

And yet, she was determined to grow spiritually, even if he wouldn’t.

That’s what this whole book is about. It is written to encourage you to take the lead, like the Shunammite woman did. Many homes lack the male figure from Genesis, Ephesians, and other places.

God does not want families to suffer, though. God wants people to be great, like this Shunammite woman. God wants you to be great.

You might be a teen or even a preteen. There will be adults who read this for encouragement. And, I pray that it helps you if you are a single mom, or a woman with an unsupportive husband. But, whoever you are, you can make things work. I pray this is an encouragement to you, whoever you are.
