In addition to pleasing yourself, that last part involves helping yourself. That means getting together with other Godly people who can help.
I don’t know how many people you will disciple, but it almost certainly won’t be as many as Moses did. He loved his people, and wanted to help them. So, after he led the Hebrews out of Egypt, he served as judge for every complaint, and referee of every dispute among at least a million people, probably more like two million. That’s like the governor of Hawaii, or the mayor of Philadelphia, handling every single problem that came up with any of the people; no police, no courts, no representatives to call, just one person! If you think you’ve got a lot to do, just remember what Moses did.
His father in law was a pagan; he didn’t worship God. However, while you should never take advice from people who don’t believe in God for Godly things, you can take their advice for things like Moses did here. His father-in-law told him to set up judges of smaller groups, so he didn’t work himself to death.
We only see small parts of the Shunammite woman’s life. Obviously, she didn’t live in a vacuum.
Ofr one thing, her husband was still a big help. Don’t forget, he provided everything else for the family, from what the Bible says. The only thing he didn’t do well was lead spiritually, which is the point God wants us to see. So, let other family members be involved; not just so you can shepherd them, but so they can help you.
This woman had friends, as well as God. Some of her friends were a big help. Use others to help you, not only so you can take a break now and then, but so you can grow more spiritually yourself. Yes, church members will help a lot. But, as we’ll see later, you can create a great network of others to help in any situation. You may not have the best case scenario. But, with God alongside you, you can overcome anything.
