Much of what you find in school is dealt with in other areas. It is part of the world’s system, which is the first thing dealt with under things which can lead us astray. Crime is dealt with above, but will also be dealt with in Section III. Avoiding getting into bad situations is also covered below.
However, it is important to realize that you have rights as a Christian. You can get specific details by contacting the American Center for Law and Justice. But, in general, here are a few important things to remember.
First, the secular media lies to people. The courts sometimes go along with that lie. The truth is that Congress – and, by that stretch, the courts – must allow the free exercise of religion in an orderly manner. They must also not allow a school to force a religion on others. This means that is a school is making you act like any religion – Christian, Hindu, Muslim, anything – as part of a class assignment, it is against the Constitution and you should decline in a way that shows Christ’s love and humility. Of course, you must also face the consequences.
You have the right to proclaim Christian values if it won’t disrupt things. Many other people put their views into things. It is important to stand up for your rights. That’s what leaders do. But, they also do it in a respectful way that shows Christ’s love. You are even free to start Bible studies in your school, or other Christian clubs, before or after school hours. It’s just that adults aren’t allowed to run them.
You have a right to tell others about Jesus in a loving way. One high school student in Pennsylvania once committed himself to praying for and witnessing to his high school, and over half the students in that school got saved during his time there. He made a huge difference for eternity.
It wasn’t just because of what he said. It’s because of how he acted, and how he presented God’s love and forgiveness. People saw Jesus in him.
They can see Jesus in you, too. You can change your school. But, you have to pray without ceasing – that is, always be in an attitude of prayer – and avoid temptation. That’s hard, but we’ll see that it is possible.
