i. Starting things right

Do you ever do things without reading the directions? Some things are easy. You don’t need directions to know how to button a button, for instance; at least, I hope you don’t. But, that’s because you have a mind that can figure it out easily. A small child might need to be shown, but it’s rather easy to get the hang of it. With other things, you need a complex list of instructions, though.

In the same way, God has offered, as a friend, to help you in life. As you follow Him, you have the chance to read the Bible and to pray.

Prayer for the day ahead is important. It’s just like starting out that task with instructions. It’s also like keeping a friendship going.

David says, in the Psalms, that he makes his requests early in the morning. Jesus often rose and prayed early. So, too, have many people through the years. If you make it a point to keep that friendship with God going strong, He will guide you in the right direction every time. What better time to do that than when you start the new day that God has given you. After all, you never know what will come. But, He does.
