c. Guiding without seeming bossy

By offering suggestions to such a neighbor kid, and gently guiding them, you will be doing a lot of good. Inviting them to Bible studies and other things mentioned earlier will really help. But, of course, the time will come when you have to emphasize some of thie things not to do, as well.

How and when to do that depends on so many things that it’s almost easiest to say, “Pray and let the Lord guide you.” However, some examples will be mentioned in Parts II and III; especially when it comes to avoiding temptation.

The key to all of this is that the person needs to see you are doing it in a spirit of love, to help them. Just as God is helping you to grow better. They need to see that you’re not doing this just so you can be the boss. You are following God’s lead. This is one of many ways in which you can apply the Golden Rule – Do unto others as you would have done unto you. Keeping in mind, of course, that people have different personalities. Some need constant encouragement. Others need someone to be tough. All, however, need God’s love to guide and direct them.
