Do you remember when you were younger? All of us dream when we’re little, to some extent. We think anything can happen; we really want to believe.
Many people who lack a strong father figure have survived and found their faith thriving despite that. However, people who have stopped believing in miracles, who have stopped believing good things can happen, often find it hard to believe in God.
I read recently that most atheists turned out that way in part because of a poor relationship with their fathers. They find it hard to believe in a loving, Heavenly father who created us and guides us and loves us no matter what.
How has your relationship been? It might not be too good, because this book is mostly for those who lack a significant male role model in the home. But, whether it is or isn’t, you can provide that image for a younger child. Even if it’s not a brother or sister. Maybe it’s a neighbor kid who needs help. You can only do so much in that case, but don’t forget you can do something. Just ask God to show you how.
