c. Thanksgiving

It’s ironic that there is no part of the Lord’s Prayer that clearly deals with being thankful. However, read Jesus’ prayer – the real “Lord’s Prayer,” as the other could be called the disciples’ prayer – in John 17. You will see Jesus thanking the Father. Thankfulness is important, because when we are thankful, we are saying that all we have is all because of God. We are showing humility.

Humility is not the only reason to be thankful. When we are thankful, we are showing that we know where all the good things in our lives come from. Yes, sometimes it is hard to find something to be thankful for. But, no matter what, if you have a personal relationship with Jesus, if you have truly been born again, you can always be thankful for that. You know you’re going to Heaven someday.
There are many other things you can be thankful for, too: The beauty of His creation; Your health - even if it’s bad there are good parts, or there are others who are worse off; a loving family; your last good meal; how God has helped you; and, so on.
