While God tries to help us, He also gives us freedom. And, those who don’t know Him are free to pretend to know Him.
God doesn’t want us to be mindless robots. So, he gives us freedom. He wants us to choose to follow Him. Isn’t it a lot more pleasant when you can choose something on your own, instead of being forced to do it? Yes, there are things that we must do. But, many times, if we look at it another way, it becomes better. Instead of being sad about having to do something, you can look at it this way: You get to do it. It is an awesome privilege. For instance, I certainly don’t envy any teens or preteens who have to take charge and be the spiritual leaders in their family. But, look at it this way; God has given you an incredible job. It is one that will be filled with rewards.
Yes, God is there. He understands. He knows all that you’ve been through. He’s let it happen because He wants people to have choices, so we won’t be mindless robots.
If others have chosen bad things, it doesn’t mean you have to. Those who made bad choices might have been in your shoes one day. They didn’t make the right choice. They didn’t choose to have faith. They chose to follow their own ways.
For girls reading, obviously you can’t be a male role model. But, you can find them for your younger siblings. You can do a lot of leading yourself. Just like that Shunammite woman, and like many great mothers throughout history. You can find a good, Gospel preaching church. You can get your siblings there. You can provide the discipline and love your siblings need, if your parents aren’t able or willing. You can recruit friends to help you. We’ll have special sections for all that later.
Whether male or female, you may need to make some sacrifices. That doesn’t mean you have to give everything up. But, it may mean some of that. Yes, that part can be tough; we all have times we want to please only ourselves.
But, giving of yourself for others is so worth it in the end! Not just in eternity, but right here on earth, too.
