i. A living sacrifice

A living sacrifice, as that verse says, should be holy and acceptable. Holy, as we saw, does not mean perfect. It means separate. In this case, separate from the ways of the world. Yes, we have fun ourselves; Christians love to have fun. We don’t just read our Bibles all day. We work, eat, and do many things others do.

However, if you are a living sacrifice, that means you are not doing these things the way the world does them. You are putting others first, instead of yourself.

That means you can still find time to have fun. But, you should not be your number one priority. In fact, neither should others. God should be. However, putting others before yourself is something that you should do, not just because other people matter in this world, but because it is, as Paul writes, your reasonable service.
