I heard once that we get flooded with many messages each day. And, well over half are negatives. That should never be – yes, we need to hear negative things when we are doing wrong, but even those must be done in a spirit of love.
One reason society is so negative is because of all though negative messages. They build on each other. One reason having friends is so important is because they are the ones who should be encouraging us.
That doesn’t mean being a “yes man” and agreeing with everything. What it means is, friends should be helping each other to grow, even as they are performing their duty as friends. That can mean refreshing or encouraging. It can even mean shepherding.
The line can be blurry between who you are leading and who you are friends with when peers are involved. It’s important to lead in a spirit of meekness no matter what, though, when it comes to being a spiritual leader. This is true for two reasons.
